What is this GPA calculator?

This free tool lets you enter each of your courses with its credit amount and letter grade, then computes a weighted GPA on the standard 4.0 scale used by most universities. A+ and A both count as 4.0, followed by A- 3.7, B+ 3.3 and so on down to F. You can also switch on a 100-scale average that estimates each grade's typical percentage.

FAQ

• Is A+ worth more than A? On the standard 4.0 scale both A+ and A equal 4.0 points. Some universities use a 4.3 scale that adds extra weight to A+, but this calculator follows the common 4.0 convention.
• What does 'weighted' mean? All grades are multiplied by their course's credit amount before the average is taken. A strong grade in a high-credit course therefore affects your GPA more than a grade in a low-credit one.
• Is the 100-scale average accurate? The 100-scale average uses each letter grade's typical percentage, so it is an estimate. Your school may apply a different conversion table, especially for A+ or F grading.
